New Year & New Changes

Hello and Happy New Year to you! I hope that you had a very Merry Christmas and are getting settled into the new year. I am so excited about the launch of my revamped website and also about the start of a new business venture geared towards other photographers, more info on that shortly. So much is going on with KPP lately! I hope you will take a look around my website for a bit. Prices are actually lowered in 2012! My calendar is open and I am ready to meet all the new people each season brings and getting to visit with the my loyal KPP clients.

I posted my Easter mini session details on my facebook page today also. Make sure you become a fan! There is a coupon code on there as well that you can take advantage of if you'd like.

I am really looking forward to 2012 and all it has to bring.

Blessings to you,
Kristy

Birmingham Photographer | Create-a-Mini

I'm changing up the way I do portrait parties a bit. I'm now offering Create-a-Mini parties that work the same way, but instead of a print credit, the hostess gets the CD absolutely free so there is no out-of-pocket expense to you. It's a great way to update your child's portraits absolutely free, and everyone loves free, right? If you are interested, email me at kristy@kristyevansphotography.com for more information.

Birmingham Photographer | Christmas Minis on Morris

I'm sad to say that my wonderful Santa that visited us on Morris Avenue last year has decided not to do the Santa gig this year. I can't really say I blame him, I mean, I wouldn't not shave or cut my hair for months and months either. So as I sat down to think about what else could I do to have something unique and fun, I decided to transform Morris Avenue into a Winter Wonderland. If I could just get a snow-blower, I'd be in business, but since I can't, I'm going to transform the area into a very warm, inviting, almost home like vignette as I can. There will be stockings hung, hopefully a gorgeous vintage chair, a full size tree and hopefully much much more. I'm really excited about it because I LOVE decorating, especially for Christmas.

I also found the sweetest letter to send to children from Santa so as a little extra, all who book a session will have a personalized letter sent to their children all the way from Santa at the North Pole.

These sessions are limited to the first 12 to respond. Session fee is due at the time of booking.

Senior Photographer | The funniest girl in the World

Meet Randi. She's my youngest little sister. I remember the day she was born like it was yesterday. That's saying a lot for me being 12 years old then and now having the memory of a 1947 model computer. Seriously, I think my ipod has more memory than I do, but that's another post all together. Back to Randi. She is so witty, will keep you in stitches she's so funny, a great athlete and a beautiful person inside and out. I can't believe she is graduating from high school this year. I'm so glad that she made the trip to Alabama for her Senior photos. My car said it was 100 degrees this day, but I think it was wrong. It had to be at least 157 degrees out there. We started on Morris Avenue and ended up somewhere in, well, I don't know. I was on a mission to find a field of tall grass because her last outfit screamed "Country music album cover! I need to find some tall grass!" So we drove until I spotted a patch of grass that I could creatively crop to look like a field. We were behind a building in an alley of not the greatest part of town and we were there for literally 2 minutes. My internal scary-o-meter was going off and we had to make it quick. I'm so glad we did though. This grouping is by far my favorite of the bunch. Thanks again Randi for making the trip and my wonderful assistant Lindsey for bearing the heat with us!

Alabaster Photographer | 96 Degrees doesn't stop me!

I had the pleasure of meeting this family at Mt. Laurel on Sunday. I went to school with this kiddos mom and it was great getting to catch up. This sweet little girl has had many prayers prayed for her in her short little life. I know she's a blessing to so many. She's a trooper for sure. Her handsome big brother there, well, he's a silly little guy. It's not often that I have to tell kids "Not such a big smile!" because he was laughing the whole time. I'm so glad that y'all came out even though the temperature was hotter than fire it felt like! Mom, Mimi and I may have looked like a hot mess after the session was over, but these children were beautiful!

Birmingham Photographer | Shooting for the goal

I met a sweet sweet family a few years ago and I never imagined how they would change my life. I usually hear a touching or inspiring story, think about it for a minute, maybe pray a time or two for them, and move on. Well, this family, I can't get out of my mind. I met Jennifer several years ago and have been photographing her children ever since. Along the way, I met her wonderful husband, her lovely mother and her sister who is just as sweet as she is. Kara, her sister, and her husband, Jason have struggled with infertility for a while and had 2 unsuccessful rounds of IVF in the process. Just recently, God has brought this opportunity to adopt a precious little boy who will be born in November. I was reading Kara's blog and she created an account for people to donate to since so many people have told her that they feel led to help in some way or another. I sat here, yelled to Damon, and asked him if I should contribute and he says yes, of course. We live comfortably but I knew I couldn't shoulder much of this burden for them, so I added a measly $10.00 to the account. That night I got in bed and was praying for them and praying to God to help me find a way to help more because I felt so strongly about this. I still have no idea why, but I do. Anyway, I was laying there thinking and I had an idea. While I can't contribute a ton of cash, I can still help. My idea was to host a portrait party for all the families that want to help and the proceeds of the sale go to Kara and Jason as they shoulder the expenses (that are insanely expensive) of this adoption. First thing the next morning, I got up to email Jennifer and run it by her before I mentioned it to Kara. As I was emailing Jennifer I received an email of thanks from Kara for the measly donation and I knew I was doing the right thing. Jennifer was ecstatic and so thankful that I had offered. Fast forward a little while, we work out the details and present it to Kara. She was humbled and grateful for my offer. I can't wait to meet all these families that love Kara and Jason so much and give them portraits to remember how precious their children are. I hope you will visit their blog (www.theoliversjourney.blogspot.com) and offer kind words of encouragement to them in the upcoming months while they wait for their precious son to be born and brought home to the Olivers.
