Birmingham Photographer | Create-a-Mini

I'm changing up the way I do portrait parties a bit. I'm now offering Create-a-Mini parties that work the same way, but instead of a print credit, the hostess gets the CD absolutely free so there is no out-of-pocket expense to you. It's a great way to update your child's portraits absolutely free, and everyone loves free, right? If you are interested, email me at kristy@kristyevansphotography.com for more information.

Birmingham Photographer | Christmas Minis on Morris

I'm sad to say that my wonderful Santa that visited us on Morris Avenue last year has decided not to do the Santa gig this year. I can't really say I blame him, I mean, I wouldn't not shave or cut my hair for months and months either. So as I sat down to think about what else could I do to have something unique and fun, I decided to transform Morris Avenue into a Winter Wonderland. If I could just get a snow-blower, I'd be in business, but since I can't, I'm going to transform the area into a very warm, inviting, almost home like vignette as I can. There will be stockings hung, hopefully a gorgeous vintage chair, a full size tree and hopefully much much more. I'm really excited about it because I LOVE decorating, especially for Christmas.

I also found the sweetest letter to send to children from Santa so as a little extra, all who book a session will have a personalized letter sent to their children all the way from Santa at the North Pole.

These sessions are limited to the first 12 to respond. Session fee is due at the time of booking.

Senior Photographer | The funniest girl in the World

Meet Randi. She's my youngest little sister. I remember the day she was born like it was yesterday. That's saying a lot for me being 12 years old then and now having the memory of a 1947 model computer. Seriously, I think my ipod has more memory than I do, but that's another post all together. Back to Randi. She is so witty, will keep you in stitches she's so funny, a great athlete and a beautiful person inside and out. I can't believe she is graduating from high school this year. I'm so glad that she made the trip to Alabama for her Senior photos. My car said it was 100 degrees this day, but I think it was wrong. It had to be at least 157 degrees out there. We started on Morris Avenue and ended up somewhere in, well, I don't know. I was on a mission to find a field of tall grass because her last outfit screamed "Country music album cover! I need to find some tall grass!" So we drove until I spotted a patch of grass that I could creatively crop to look like a field. We were behind a building in an alley of not the greatest part of town and we were there for literally 2 minutes. My internal scary-o-meter was going off and we had to make it quick. I'm so glad we did though. This grouping is by far my favorite of the bunch. Thanks again Randi for making the trip and my wonderful assistant Lindsey for bearing the heat with us!

Alabaster Photographer | 96 Degrees doesn't stop me!

I had the pleasure of meeting this family at Mt. Laurel on Sunday. I went to school with this kiddos mom and it was great getting to catch up. This sweet little girl has had many prayers prayed for her in her short little life. I know she's a blessing to so many. She's a trooper for sure. Her handsome big brother there, well, he's a silly little guy. It's not often that I have to tell kids "Not such a big smile!" because he was laughing the whole time. I'm so glad that y'all came out even though the temperature was hotter than fire it felt like! Mom, Mimi and I may have looked like a hot mess after the session was over, but these children were beautiful!

Birmingham Photographer | Shooting for the goal

I met a sweet sweet family a few years ago and I never imagined how they would change my life. I usually hear a touching or inspiring story, think about it for a minute, maybe pray a time or two for them, and move on. Well, this family, I can't get out of my mind. I met Jennifer several years ago and have been photographing her children ever since. Along the way, I met her wonderful husband, her lovely mother and her sister who is just as sweet as she is. Kara, her sister, and her husband, Jason have struggled with infertility for a while and had 2 unsuccessful rounds of IVF in the process. Just recently, God has brought this opportunity to adopt a precious little boy who will be born in November. I was reading Kara's blog and she created an account for people to donate to since so many people have told her that they feel led to help in some way or another. I sat here, yelled to Damon, and asked him if I should contribute and he says yes, of course. We live comfortably but I knew I couldn't shoulder much of this burden for them, so I added a measly $10.00 to the account. That night I got in bed and was praying for them and praying to God to help me find a way to help more because I felt so strongly about this. I still have no idea why, but I do. Anyway, I was laying there thinking and I had an idea. While I can't contribute a ton of cash, I can still help. My idea was to host a portrait party for all the families that want to help and the proceeds of the sale go to Kara and Jason as they shoulder the expenses (that are insanely expensive) of this adoption. First thing the next morning, I got up to email Jennifer and run it by her before I mentioned it to Kara. As I was emailing Jennifer I received an email of thanks from Kara for the measly donation and I knew I was doing the right thing. Jennifer was ecstatic and so thankful that I had offered. Fast forward a little while, we work out the details and present it to Kara. She was humbled and grateful for my offer. I can't wait to meet all these families that love Kara and Jason so much and give them portraits to remember how precious their children are. I hope you will visit their blog (www.theoliversjourney.blogspot.com) and offer kind words of encouragement to them in the upcoming months while they wait for their precious son to be born and brought home to the Olivers.

Lake View Photographer | Sweet Sleepy Baby B

Be still my heart! This little guy is 11 days old and absolutely the best baby I have ever worked with. He is still so bendy and curled-- a photographers dream! He let me twist and turn him for and hour and a half and hardly ever made a peep. I never even saw him with his eyes open. I'm thrilled with your proof set and I know you will be too! Congratulations on your precious baby boy!

Happy Mother's Day to you

I just wanted to wish all the moms and those who treat others like moms and those who really want to be moms a Happy Mothers Day. To think I was "that person" who always said I would never have kids, I thank God that He had a bigger plan for me. I am so blessed and thankful to be the person that Austin calls mama or "mooooooooooooooooooooom! as he usually calls me eleventy billion times a day.

I hope my mom knows how much I love her too. If you had a weekday session with me, she is probably to thank. She helps me with Austin (and everything else for that matter!) any time, day or night. She never reads my blogs, but just in case she does, I love you mom!

Botanical Gardens Photographer | Playing catch-up

I hate combining blog posts but with 3000 images waiting to be edited, a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do. After 57 reschedules due to rain, I was finally able to work in several of my March rain-outs. Thank God for clear skies. These are some precious kiddos don't you think?

Moody Photographer | Cutie Pies

I met big sister a few years ago, but just had the chance to meet little sis last week. They are just too cute for words. We had a great time walking, sometimes running, all over the gardens. I was sad to see that only a few tulips remain but there is a ton of other things blooming there this time of year. Wonderful colors with the glowing sunsetting light.

Calera Photographer | Big blue eyes times two

These little girls are just the sweetest little things ever! I really think they get it from their mama. We had a great session yesterday at Botanical Gardens minus the flip-flop incident. I found a great new spot that I had never visited before while on a field trip with my son and I knew we were heading there for some of these portraits. H, I hope your whopping 59 proofs was worth all the pain and suffering!

Mount Olive Photographer | Birthday Boy

You may remember this little guy from my Halloween Costume Contest. After more reschedules due to weather than I'd ever like to experience again, we were finally able to his one year session. It was an eventful day on Morris Avenue but we still managed to get quite a few great portraits of him. It was great seeing you guys again. Can't wait to meet your new little one.

Spring Minis- 2 spots remaining

I have the 10:30 and 11:30 session open if you'd like to book Easter/Spring portraits. This would be a great time to update your family portraits too. Dads usually can tolerate 20 minutes without too much bribery! This is a great opportunity that only happens a few times a year, so don't delay if you are interested!

Lakeview Photographer | Sweet Baby S

I hate when things go bad. This little guy just wasn't really feeling it on our first session so I offered to come back and try again another day when maybe he was feeling a little better. I'm soooooo glad I did! I got to go hang out with this little cutie-patootie again on Sunday and we captured a ton of cute smiles and expressions from him. He is right around four months and that is a great age for portraits! So many smiles and expressions and not yet able to do the Olymipic-style crawl yet and get away too quickly.

Birmingham Photographer | Polling the Audience

I'm having issues. I'm gearing up to launch my new and improved website soon and I decided I would go ahead and make a few changes to the blog. I'm having a hard time figuring out what is the best for the most viewers. I have a 24" monitor so I can see these new huge images without scrolling left to right but I don't want it to be a pain for you having to scroll. So, tell me... Can you see the entire image without scrolling or not? Based on your feedback, I'm going to adjust accordingly.

Trussville Photographer | Mom made me do it

It was evident that this guy was only there to appease mom for his portraits. Usually that is a sure fire recipe for disaster, but not with this guy. A little bit of chatting about girls and video games and he perked right up. He's such a sweet and mild mannered young man. It was my pleasure photographing you, J, even if you didn't like being there! :)

Birmingham Photographer | Freezing on Morris

It was sooooo cold the day of this family's session. We braved the cold, got in and out of there quickly and got some great family shots. These go in my "All time favorite family shots" folder for sure!

Trussville Photographer | Fun family

These guys are the best! I just love it when moms really put thought into how outfit choices will affect the overall feel of the images and this mom did just that. It doesn't hurt being a good looking family too! The youngest little guy, oh my, he was a hoot! It was my pleasure meeting you guys!

Birmingham Bad Blogger Photographer | Humor me

I am going through my 2009 images getting ready to archive and I just realized that through the holidays, otherwise known to photographers as November and December chaos, that I didn't post images from my sessions to my blog. Shame on me! There were too many cute ones to just copy them to an external for them to live there for eternity. So, yes, I know its February. Yes, I know I'm way late... please forgive me!
